Introduction
A real-time formative assessment tool that keeps teachers organized while they observe and document student progress.
As Design Manager for the Scout Observational Assessment App, I led the creation of a dynamic tool for teachers to document “in-the-moment” student learning on our Realize platform. Scout enables educators to record observations, make notes, upload media, track progress, streamline organization, and generate insightful reports.
Problem Statement
Teachers have always observed students in the moment — but capturing those observations used to mean clipboards, scattered sticky notes, and trying to remember details at the end of a long day. Scout was built to fix that — giving teachers a simple, organized way to document what they see in real time, right from their device, without breaking their classroom flow.

Scout gave teachers something genuinely useful — a way to capture the moments that matter without the friction of traditional documentation. What I’m most proud of is the branding and UX foundation I laid for the app, which has continued to inform its design as it’s evolved on the Realize platform.
