Integrating & Rebranding MathUP

My Role
Product Design Manager
Content & UX Strategy

Introduction

MathUP is an educational platform focused on enhancing math teaching and learning. It offers resources and tools aligned with the curriculum to improve both student engagement and understanding of mathematics.

For this groundbreaking project, we introduced MathUP, a Canadian educational product, to the U.S. market under the rebranded name Experience Math—a first for our company in adapting an external product. As Design Manager, I played a key role in seamlessly integrating MathUP’s content into Realize, our teacher platform, while spearheading the development of Experience Math’s new identity.

Problem Statement

Our primary challenge involved adapting MathUP’s platform and content for the U.S. market, which required:

Comprehensive understanding and alignment of MathUP’s content with U.S. educational standards.

Effective integration of MathUP’s platform into our existing Realize (teacher platform) system.

Preservation of the educational essence of MathUP while customizing it for U.S. users.

The Team and Our Approach

Alongside an Instructional Designer, who functioned as a collaborative partner, we tackled these challenges by:

Content and Platform Mapping

Ensuring MathUP’s content fits U.S. educational standards and integrating its platform with our Realize (our teacher platform) system.

Research Leadership

I played a key role in leading research efforts alongside my team. My contributions were crucial in defining and collecting research questions and goals, which guided our strategic approach.

Design Leadership

I led product designers in creating Experience Math’s user interface, focusing on an intuitive and engaging user experience.

User Experience Focus

We concentrated on the experiences of teachers and students, evaluated current products for potential adaptation, and assessed the usability of MathUP’s assets.

Global Takeaways

Our team presented comprehensive findings and recommendations, which were instrumental in business case planning and prototyping.

Outcomes and Impact

Throughout the project, I ensured that each phase aligned with our strategic objectives and upheld the highest quality standards.

This project resulted in the successful prototyping and introduction of Experience Math in the U.S. market. Notable accomplishments include:

The integration and rebranding of a foreign educational product for the U.S. audience.

Enhanced user experience, specifically designed for U.S. educators and students.

Adaptation of MathUP’s instructional model to the U.S. educational environment.

Efficient use of existing resources, avoiding unnecessary reinvention.

Conclusion

This case study demonstrates my expertise in managing complex, cross-cultural design projects, highlighting my ability to lead research and design teams effectively. It showcases my commitment to developing innovative and culturally responsive educational solutions, significantly impacting the U.S. educational market.
